There are so many things to do in NYC for date ideas that aren’t just grabbing a drink at a bar. I rounded up some recent things Mike & I have done and would recommend to others! If you are a local or a visitor here are some ideas for you! To my single ladies out there, these are also fun to do with your friends too!
1. Brooklyn Boulders
A cool and different type of workout neither of us were used too! Our trust and communication skills as a couple were tested here… I think we passed! We went to Pig Beach after for some homemade BBQ, brews & good vibes!
2. Red Hook Winery
A hidden gem on the water in Brooklyn where the wine is so good and the vibe is chill. ALL of the wine is produced there, from grape to bottle!
3. Governor’s Island
Take the Governor’s Island Ferry (right next to the Staten Island Ferry in FiDi) over to the island. Island Oyster is to your right where you can grab a drink & some oysters with a perfect view of downtown Manhattan. You then can wonder around the island where you will find bike rentals, a trail, food trucks, and some cool history of the island.
4. East or Westside River Trail
These are such pretty trails that you can walk, run, or bike. The East River ends right by Seaport District which is a cute cobblestone area full of bars, restaurants, & shops. The Westside Trail is much more scenic where you end in Tribeca and can grab a drink at City Vineyard or on a sailboat at Grand Bank’s.
5. Rockaway Beach
Take a 50 minute ferry from Pier 11 to Rockaway Beach. Once arrived, Uber to Ripper’s which is on 86th street and a popular beach area. Enjoy some drinks with a DJ and chill on the beach. We always end our trip at Tacoway Beach (Uber there) which is an authentic chill Mexican restaurant.
6. Picnic in Central Park
This may sound generic but living in the city we really don’t take advantage of Central Park as much as we should. It is so nice to grab some snacks and some drinks and chill in Sheep Meadow or The Great Lawn.
7. The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers
They have an awesome 4 story, year round, driving range that is on the Hudson River. This is not like your typical driving range where you get a bucket of balls. They give you a card that you insert at your range where the ball comes up with the tee! No bending down is necessary!
8. Free Movies in the Park
They are so many parks in NYC, Brooklyn, and Queens that we discovered from this. Our favorite spot is Hunter’s Point with an amazing skyline view of Manhattan. You can bring your own food and beverages but there is also a full concession stand there.
Enjoy!
Many XO’s,
Alyssa
